CLD Mixed Use Development – Block A

Proposed 25,000m2 mixed use development in Camberwell, Southwark set over 3 phases: Block A – building a hotel/ residential over the existing shopping centre; Block B – new build residential and Cinema over existing supermarket; Block C – 12 storey RC new build residential tower.

Block A – A 12 storey RC residential tower combined with a lightweight 3 storey residential set over a new basement. The structure to the tower comprises of an RC frame on CFA piles and is  stabilised by RC shear cores. Due to planning restrictions on height the slab depths have been slimmed down to 220mm in conventional RC, although PT slabs were also explored. Precast columns and walls are being considered to speed up the construction process. The basement is formed with a secant pile wall due to the high water table and the low rise apartments will either be formed from tradition methods or MMC.
