Mount Pleasant Development

As part of a team developing the historic Mount Pleasant site in north Farringdon, the scheme was taken through feasibility to stage D.

The development consisted a two storey reinforced concrete access box structure upon which a new 8 storey residential block was to be built.  This box was in turn supported on a 1.5m deep transfer structure supported on a series of under-reamed piles weaved between the Northern Line, Thames Water main, metropolitan line and mail rail tunnels below.

An acoustic 40m spanning green roof was designed to span over the existing access ramp to the postal sorting office and was to be ‘launched’ and jacked into position whilst the building was in operation.

*This project was undertaken whilst at a previous practice with significant involvement from a Director at SD Structures.
